Search like the human brain
I’ve seen a lot of posts lately discussing the fact that internet search isn’t done yet. Although it has improved vastly from when I first started started using the internet, we’re not even close to our potential. Search capability on any platform has a long way to go before we approach the power of our individual brains. For instance, I saw a man walking down the street today and he reminded me of an actor. I couldn’t remember the actor’s name, so I sent my brain off to perform a fetch. The first result came back as Ed Grimley. Well, although it was amusing, I knew that wasn’t right because the man was older with glasses and a mustache. Even with the incorrect data, I felt like I was close. My brain was using the correct index but had pulled the wrong record. Then it came to me. The man looked like Wilford Brimley. So was the index in my brain based on some sort of soundex/rhyming scheme? It’s so amazing that we have all of this technology and we don’t even know how our own minds work.
