Tracer WP Plugin

Tracer is an invisible tracking image that can be used to monitor online content. It works within your blog and through your feeds as well. Visit the Tracer website to signup.

This plugin adds a button to the WordPress editor that makes it easy to insert a Tracer into your posts.

For WP Version 2.1 and higher - While using the Visual Editor, you will need to click on the Code tab to see the Insert Tracer button.

Tracer User Name and Password – Go to the Tracer API page to get your User Name and Password. Enter this information on the Tracer Options page. (Options tab, Tracer tab)

Tracer Name – WP 2.1 and higher will use the title of the post to create a new Tracer name.  WP 2.0 will use text that you have selected in the editor to create a Tracer name.  A Tracer name will be generated for you if the plugin cannot select text from WP.

Go Invisible – The Tracer is inserted as a visible image. To make the Tracer invisible, change show=y to show=n in the Tracer URL

Compatibility
Tracer has been tested with WordPress 2.0.4 and should be compatible with any version at or above 2.0.

Installation

  1. Download the tracer.zip file. (see the end of this article for download location)
  2. Extract the ‘tracer’ folder from the zip file.
  3. Copy the tracer folder into your WordPress plugins directory (wp-content/plugins).
  4. Login to WordPress Admin.
  5. Go to the Plugins page and click Activate for Tracer.
  6. Click on the Options tab. Then click on the Tracer tab to setup your User Name and Password.
