Blog-reach
I’ve been doing a lot of research on the blogosphere this week. Okay, I’m a programmer, not a marketing guy, but I’ve been trying to contact people in the community to get the word out about PRX Builder. This type of work is very personal to me because it really is about building a relationship with someone, finding areas of common interest and communicating in a way that isn’t blatantly just a sales pitch. I hate it when someone tries to “sell” something to me. Either I’m interested or I’m not — don’t force it. But I am contacting people, and I am asking them to try something new, and that can sometimes require a little creativity.
One of the benefits that I’m getting from this research is I’m discovering new blogs, and learning new things about people and their interests. I found out that one of the people that I contacted shared a previous employer with me. We could probably swap some horror stories. Another person shared my passion for customer service. Leo Bottary’s blog is dedicated to helping people improve customer service. This type of research takes some time, but I’m finding it infinitely rewarding in the interesting topics and people that I’m discovering.
