My wife just called me from Target.  She’s trying to pick out a gift for my niece for the upcoming Christmas Season.  In addition to picking out a great gift for a seven-year-old, she’s trying to find things that weren’t made in China (like there are any, right?).  Just like everyone else, she’s scared by all of the recent lead paint discoveries.  What to do?  I wonder how many of my toys contained lead.  How many lead-tainted items have I purchased over the years?

Lead has been a known hazard for many years now.  I’ve always expected companies and the government to protect me and my kids when it came to known hazards.  Frankly, I don’t know all of the facts behind the recent lead issues, but I need to find out.  Really, screw every other issue out there right now.  We need to focus on this.  Are we handing out poison to our kids?
