Schemas Aren’t Sexy

The hRelease working document was unveiled yesterday to the New Media Release Group.  This first draft has been over a year in the making.  The response so far has been under-whelming.  It’s just me and the crickets.  I had hoped for more, but I have to admit that this is what I expected.

Data schemas just aren’t sexy, except to complete geeks like me.  That’s why I didn’t just release the PRX data format last year.  I built PRX Builder to showcase the PRX RSS Extension.  I didn’t really plan for PRX Builder to become the focus of my efforts.  The tool just sort of grew organically.

Perhaps the lack of response to hRelease is due to the silent agreement that the working document is perfect…  Doubtful!  There’s a lot to digest, so perhaps in a few days we’ll have a discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of the document.

Either way, I’m eager to move this to the next step and hopefully have something available that people can actually use.
