Subscribe to the blogs of your Twitter friends using My Tweeple
My Tweeple helps you keep track of your friends and followers on Twitter. It allows you to quickly decide at-a-glance whether you should block or follow your latest followers. It has several features that improve your ability to learn more about your followers as well as allowing you to pull your follower information into other applications.
One important way to learn more about your followers is to subscribe and read their blogs, however, finding each individual’s blog and subscribing to each blog feed can be tedious. My Tweeple has a process that will automatically search for the blog feeds of your followers. You can then download the feed list and subscribe to all of the feeds in a feed reader such as Google Reader. If you’ve ever migrated from one feed reader to another, the import/export process should be familiar.
Signon to My Tweeple
Open My Tweeple in your browser and signon.
Perform a Sync with Twitter
My Tweeple needs to pull your friend and follower information from Twitter.
Wait a day or so
My Tweeple includes a background process that runs through your list of friends. It looks at the web links that they’ve provided to Twitter and it attempts to discover the feeds that are associated with each link. This process can take some time. It also depends on a few key things: Did the user include a blog in their profile? Is the blog feed discoverable? You won’t be able to retrieve 100%, but it does provide you with a great list of new blogs to read. If you have friends in common with other My Tweeple users, then the feeds may already have been captured. Look at your Blog Feed Count whenever you signon to My Tweeple.
Export the OPML file
Once My Tweeple has captured the blog feeds, select Tools->Blog RSS/ATOM Feeds to create an export file. A file called mytweeple.opml will be downloaded by your browser. Save the file to your hard drive.
Import the OPML file into your feed reader
My Tweeple’s export process creates a standard OPML file that can be imported into most feed readers. For example, Google Reader users can select the Import/Export tab under Settings. Select the file that was exported from My Tweeple and click Upload. The feed reader will import the blog feeds and create a subscription for each feed. The list is not dynamic, so the feeds from new followers will not be added unless you go through this process again in the future.

Now that all of the feeds have been imported, you’re subscribed to your friend’s feeds and you’re ready to read. This is a great way to keep track of what’s going on with your friends outside of Twitter, and it provides additional opportunities to learn more about your followers.
