Feedlinx Does Email

Michael Arrington writes about his perfect feed-to-email solution. I’ve got a good start on this with Feedlinx at http://www.feedlinx.com. You can receive your posts via email and Feedlinx will keep track of the “read” status for you. Then, when you go back to your feed reader you won’t have to re-read old posts.
When I wrote ZipLine Server several months ago, I never realized how many ways it could expand. ZipLine Server is the feed server that I wrote originally to handle workflow for business. Now, it’s been modified to include great features like Feedmail Now!, Feedlinx, and feed-to-email (as part of Feedlinx). It’s so flexible that I added the feed-to-email functionality in a day. Although I know there’s room for improvement, I’m really happy with how I’ve been able to continually build on the original feed-server concept. It continues to handle things that I hadn’t even dreamed of when I wrote the original code.

Is this going to allow FeedBlitz-like subscription without the branding? I know that Mike and others are looking for this in particular.

Feedlinx is currently designed with the reader in mind. I haven’t tried FeedBlitz, but it seems they have a lot of services aimed at bloggers who want to make it easier for readers to subscribe. I’m only looking at it from the subscriber’s end. Subscribers can load any feed into Feedlinx and use any channel (feed reader or email), tracking the “read” status as they move from channel to channel. There is a little bit of branding at the bottom of each email. I could remove it if people dislike it, but it’s also pretty unobtrusive.

If it all user-based, then the doesn’t matter; if, however, you were handling email subscribers for me as a publisher, then you could offer the free version with your branding and the “pro” version with my branding.
