SF Tech Session
Robert Anderson does an excellent job summing up the SF Tech Session tonight. I was there at the beginning and made it most of the way through the second presenter. Robert planned it right.
The first product, Kerio, was pretty much an exact replica of Outlook. I believe their price points are lower than Microsoft’s (starting at around $499 for 20 users. It would be a good choice for low-tech businesses who are looking for a less expensive solution.
Zimbra, the next product, showed off some pretty impressive Ajax wizardry. Someone even asked about the speed of the presenter’s laptop because the screens were popping so fast. Since this product is open source, I’m actually thinking about looking at how I might integrate it with ZipLine FeedMail using their “Zimlets.”
I missed the last presentation, but I understand the guy flew in from D.C. for tonight. Again, Robert does a more thorough job on his blog, so check his post out.
I met the CFO for Koders.com — a sourcecode search tool. I can sure use something like this since I spend hours searching the web for sample code.
The fun part of the night was when someone in my row turned around and introduced himself to the person behind him as Robert Scoble. The poor guy just smiled and said, “Nice to meet you, Robert.”
